Many children of the age of 5 and above can handle a higher end model. Of course it still has to be tough enough to bounce well and hold up to rough treatment. A lot of children can handle more sophisticated controls and features as young as 6 and could be serious about picture taking at 8. Don't Forget About Reliability: It's always a good idea to go read some reviews. Don't just check the magazines or expert reviews, find some real world user reviews to see a more realistic picture of any common problems or issues. Talk to friends or associates about what they have and what they like or dislike about cameras they've bought. Don't Forget About Accessories: Most children love to have carrying bags or other items that go with a digital camera. Even if they don't server any real purpose, the more stuff included the better. Look for associated items straps, attachments, or anything that would increase the fun. |
